The team folded in the latter part of 2011. magicJack went under and in the early part of 2012, the same happened to WPS. Rapinoe first began participating with the Australian W-League with Sydney Football Club FC after which she returned in the United States. It was the Seattle Washington Sounders Women, currently Sound FC, were her the next team. The 2013 season was the last time she played soccer in France. It was the Seattle Reign FC - now OL Reign - of the National Women's Soccer League NWSL, which was formed when the WPS disbanded - then became the team she was playing for. Rapinoe began to be among the best players for her team, eventually becoming the captain. In 2018, Rapinoe was named cocaptain. Rapinoe was awarded two bronze medals at the United States' 4-3 win over Australia in the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Japan has been postponed until 2021 because of the COVID-19 viral spread.
